Details aside, I want to take this post to call out to my #florida fam. My first real intro to tattoos and what they were came from these two. My mom’s older sister, and her husband. My earliest memory of this woman, we moved from Florida, to a little town in East Ohio where my Dad was from. So when my Dad passed, was when my Aunt Tammy came up to see my mom. She needed the support, so she came. Of all the people that did, I remembered her the most. She coaxed me from behind the couch, it was night time and I was 5. 😂 After moving back to Florida, I later got to meet the man who would perpetually pinch me with his toes, and be the over tanned man with bleached blond hair in the speedo, in every beach memory of my childhood 😂 We arent going to talk about the barnicle injury at the Causeway ✌🏼💀 This man, no judgement and all the attitude, for no reason. I credit my wild, to these two. Uncle Steve was the very one who inspired my mariner’s compass with a starry night inside of it. The moon and stars at night on a white sandy beach DOES NOT COMPARE. Uncle Steve showed me that. A part of who I am at my core, is because of him. I grew apart from this family, because of life. Let me at least honor him here. Disclaimer: Photo isn’t mine.
#2016 trend…. I was 26 had only been married for #2016 trend…. I was 26 had only been married for a couple years and was living with my husband, my beagle, Moose and my cat, Kitty. This was the year I moved back to Michigan from living in Texas for almost five years. Had MAYBE 6 tattoos, was working retail, in a baby marriage, where my then-husband had finally got his promotion and the official okay to come home. Life has done some crazy things in a decade. Because this life now, is unfathomable to the girl pictured here. It took me actual decades to finally just sit down and just look at this life or a second. For those of you who do know, thank you for your love and support over the years because it actually does mean so much. And for those of y’all that are newer here, still thank you. Whether I’ve been friends with you since I joined the face-space in 2009, or you’re a tattoo client, or even a peer. I appreciate you 🫶🏼 Happy FRIGGIN #tuesday ✌🏼
ELEVEN years ago👈🏼 My ex-husband and I went on o ELEVEN years ago👈🏼 My ex-husband and I went on our most LAST MINUTE, most eventful adventure ever. With a tag-along, we packed up a Subaru Outback from our house in Victoria, TX and we drove over seventeen hours to Big Bend National Park in west Texas. From arrival at past midnight on New Year’s Day, to setting up the tent with flashlights in a Dark Park campground, after having one of the worst ice storms they had ever seen. So icy, a semi truck took out ten power poles that knocked out power in a 100 mile radius. The nearest gas station was 70 miles from camp. Might I also mention that we didn’t have a gas can either… because… #preared 💀 Managed to survive the night with no hypothermia (Our tent was a SUMMER tent that we packed for a January trip into the desert mountains 👀) Made it to that gas station on fumes that next morning RIGHT as they turned on the pumps for rationing until the area had power again. With gas and snacks it to a sightseeing hike where keys got locked in the car, hitchhiking back to the ranger station to then my ex getting actually frisked by the park rangers before they would even help us. (Mexico’s border was just a walk across a river so…) Moral of the story: Just prepare for the worst. It just might ACTUALLY happen. ✌🏼🤣
